Bluefin tuna fishing
Bluefin tuna fishing started at Tsugaru Channel in the vicinity of the southern part of Hokkaido Island of Japan. Fishing gear to catch bluefin tuna are longlines and trolling.
Hokkaidoan fishermen now enjoying a good catch everyday. This fishing will end in the end of the year 2006 by fishermen's agreement to prevent overcatch of bluefin tuna. Then they will start the same fishing in the begining day of July, 2007.
On the other hand, a university of Hakodate City is carrying out an open seminar to citizen. One of the seminar topics is "Penguin". An instructor explained us why penguines prefer diving to flying. He said penguines found more food in the water than in the sky so penguines changed their wings to fins to swim instead of flying in the sky. See you,
